Adoption of the EESC opinion SOC/603 "European Solidarity Corps" / Adoption de l'avis du CESE "Corps européen de solidarité"

Click here if you are having trouble viewing this message.   Dear Madam, Dear Sir,    At its 538th plenary session, held on 17 and 18 October 2018, the European Economic and Social Committee adopted the following opinion, available in all language versions: SOC/603 - European Solidarity Corps In its opinion, the EESC welcomes the commitment to the renewed European Solidarity Corps (ESC) with an increased budget and target for participation. It also appreciates the merging with the EU Aid Volunteers. The Committee believes that in the future, the EU needs to develop two independent support programmes, one for youth and one for volunteering. The EESC makes a series of concrete recommendations, such as:   1)  the employment strand of the ECS needs to be subject to strict regulation and regular review; 2)  there should be no age restriction on the ESC as it should be a support for volunteering; 3)  the ESC should be restricted to the not for profit sector; 4)  the main civil society platforms in the field (the European Youth Forum and the European Volunteering Centre) should be centrally involved in the regulation and oversight of the ESC.   Yours sincerely,    Christa Schweng President of the Section for Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC) Chère Madame, Cher Monsieur,   Lors de sa 538e session plénière des 17 et 18 octobre 2018, le Comité économique et social européen a adopté l'avis suivant, disponible dans toutes les versions linguistiques:   SOC/603 - Corps européen de solidarité   Dans son avis, le CESE se félicite de l'engagement en faveur du Corps européen de solidarité (CES) renouvelé, dont le budget est augmenté et la participation élargie. Il apprécie également la fusion avec l'initiative des volontaires de l'aide de l'Union européenne. Le Comité estime qu'à l'avenir, l'UE devra développer deux programmes de soutien indépendants, l'un destiné aux jeunes et l'autre au volontariat. Le CESE formule une série de recommandations concrètes, telles que:   1)  le volet "emploi" du CES doit être soumis à une réglementation stricte et à un réexamen régulier; 2)  il ne devrait y avoir aucune limite d'âge pour le CES, car cela devrait constituer un soutien pour le volontariat; 3)  le CES devrait être limité au secteur sans but lucratif; 4) les principales plates-formes de la société civile sur le terrain (le Forum européen de la jeunesse et le Centre européen du volontariat) devraient être associées de manière centrale à la réglementation et au contrôle du CES.   Bien à vous,   Christa Schweng   Président de la section spécialisée Emploi, affaires sociales et citoyenneté (SOC)     European Economic and Social Committee / Comité économique et social européen Rue Belliard 99, 1040 Bruxelles   Contact us Unsubscribe Privacy Statement
