GREATNESS IN STONE: 'ARCHITECTURE AND ROYALTY'

One of the enduring ways by which the Romanian Monarchs have expressed their majesty and attachment to their realm was by erecting impressive edifices that have forever impacted Romania's built environment. The opening of the 'Architecture and Royalty' exhibition, followed by the projection of the documentary 'Royal Residences in Romania' (narrated by academician Răzvan Theodorescu) and a conversation with professors Augustin Ioan and Marius Marcu-Lapadat offer a thorough exploration of the architectural masterpieces created under the aegis of the Romanian Royal Family.  more

MARIN SORESCU'S 'JONAH', THE ELEGIAC PARABLE OF HUMAN CONDITION, AT THE RCI

Arguably the most celebrated monologue of Romanian theatre gets a brilliant makeover in a new production staged specially for our increasingly popular theatrical space. Directed by American Sharon Willems and starring Romanian actor Alin Balaşcan, the performance preserves the signature balance between lyricism and irony so characteristic to the great poet and playwright Marin Sorescu (1936-1996) while offering a highly contemporary take, full of imagery and humour, of the story of the prophet-fisherman caught in the belly of the huge fish.  more
